A life-size statue of first lady Melania Trump was unveiled in her Slovenian hometown over the weekend, and it is raising lots of eyebrows.
Locals who checked out the statue are calling it “a disgrace,” saying she looks more like a Smurfette than the first lady. It features Mrs. Trump carved out of wood and wearing a blue dress similar to her inauguration outfit.
The artist carved the statue with a chainsaw.
Trump's third wife was born and raised in the quaint town of Sevnica, which has a population of less than 5,000.
Melania was born Melania Knauss in 1970. She lived in a fourth-floor, three-bedroom apartment in the town with her parents and sister. Her neighbors and former classmates spoke fondly of their famous former resident to Inside Edition in 2016, recalling her talents for art and fashion.
She left the town when she was 17 when she moved to the capital, Ljubljana, to attend an elite high school. By the time she was 18, she had moved to Milan and signed with an elite modeling agency.
