Military dogs often return from service broken and damaged, but the lucky ones end up with Mike Ritland of the Warrior Dog Foundation in Texas. Ritland, a Navy SEAL coaxes them back from the edge. "Every one of these dogs would be in a box full of ashes on somebody's desk if we weren't taking them," he says. "We are the last-ditch resort for these dogs." Retired military dog Rudy was rehomed with U.S. Air Force veteran Bob Welch, who says Rudy lives to serve.
