Simao Meco, 9, went through a dangerous operation that gave him a new face. He was born with a rare defect known as Tessier craniofacial cleft, which left the two sides of his face unaligned. He was losing sight in his right eye and had trouble breathing. Simao's mother, Lisa, says he was constantly bullied by other children. Then pediatric plastic surgeon Dr. James Bradley stepped in. He took the case pro bono and spent six hours reconstructing Simao's face.
