Will the Trumps Miss Out on Invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding?

Playing Will President Trump or Barack Obama Be Invited to Prince Harry’s Wedding?

Next year's royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is already causing a diplomatic dilemma.

There's speculation that the Obamas may be invited, but not the Trumps.

Prince Harry was asked about that Wednesday on BBC’s Radio 4 whether the Obamas would attend the wedding.

“I don't know about that,” he said. “We haven't put the invites or the guest lists together yet so who knows whether he is going to be invited or not? I wouldn't want to ruin that surprise.”

But British officials are reportedly worried that inviting just the Obamas would cause offense.

In the past, Meghan Markle has let her thoughts about Donald Trump be known.

"As a misogynistic as Trump is, with his world view, and is so vocal about it, you are not just voting for Hillary because she is a woman. You are voting because Trump has made it easy to see you don’t want that kind of world he is painting," she said on The Daily Show in 2016.

The prince's interview with Obama was also broadcast Wednesday in the UK.

In the interview, Obama took a subtle dig at Trump by mentioning bad Twitter habits.

“What I do believe, is all of us in leadership have to find ways in which we can recreate a common space on the internet,” Obama said. “One of the dangers of the internet is that people can have entirely different realities. They can be cocooned in information that reinforces their current biases.”

There were also light-hearted exchange between the prince and former president.

Harry asked Obama if he preferred boxers or briefs, to which Obama replied: “Sorry, we don't answer those questions.”

Harry then then asked if liked LeBron James or Michael Jordan.

“Jordan. I love LeBron but I’m a Chicago guy,” Obama said referring to the Chicago Bulls star.

Harry also asked if Obama likedSuits or The Good Wife, to which the former president said Suits, leaving the prince chuckling. "Great answer," the prince said.

Suits is the USA network series Markle starred in before she became engaged.

Harry’s interview with Obama was recorded in Toronto in September when the two met during the Invictus Games, which the prince helps to organize.

Obama was candid about his post-White House life. He said he gets up later and spends more time with his family, but his values are constant.

“I still care about making sure that the United States and the world is a place where kids get a decent education. Where people who are willing to work hard are able to find a job that pays a living wage,” Obama said. “That we’re conserving the amazing resources of our planet so that future generations can enjoy the beauty of this place, like we did.”
