Did you hear the one about the dinosaur that went to a Dairy Queen?

It may sound like a joke, but as temperatures reached 106 degrees in Phoenix, Ariz., Thursday, a person dressed in a Tyrannosaurus rex outfit trotted their way to a local DQ — presumably for some ice cream and a chance to cool off.

As the person in the dinosaur outfit gingerly made their way to the door of the chain restaurant, one customer walked out and did a double take.

T. rexes have been everywhere in public recently.

In June, one high school student's boyfriend dressed up as a Tyrannosaurus rex prior to the prom. He eventually took the costume off after posing for a few photos, but it was prehistoric fun while it lasted.

In April, a Florida mother walked her 7 and 8-year-old sons to school dressed as a T. rex to teach them a valuable life lesson.

"The message I want to convey to my boys is to be brave and bold enough to do what they enjoy and what makes them happy,” Leslie Eggenberger told InsideEdition.com.

“The goal is to put myself out there, show my kids how much fun it can be to make others smile, and simply be brave enough to have fun despite how silly you may look.”

A Colorado teen was named homecoming queen after she attended her school’s dance dressed as the king of the dinosaurs last September.
